A hands-on workshop that teaches business users — no SQL, no data engineering background — how to answer their own questions, build their own charts and dashboards, and automate their own reporting with TextQL’s analytics agent, Ana. It runs as short, hands-on modules, each with a goal, copy-paste prompts, what you’ll see, and a checkpoint before moving on.

What you’ll be able to do

Ask in plain English

Real business questions, refined conversationally — no SQL.

Trust the answer

Audit how every number was produced; reconcile against what you know.

Visualize and go deeper

Charts, segmentation, root-cause, trends, and forecasts.

Create shareable assets

Reports, live dashboards, and exports from any analysis.

Automate it

Scheduled playbooks and proactive feed agents.

Make it smarter

Teach the platform your definitions so everyone’s answers improve.

How to use this workshop

  • Read Meet Ana (5 minutes) so you know what’s happening behind the chat.
  • Complete Module 0 to get connected and oriented.
  • Work through modules 1 → 6 in order — each builds on the last.
  • Every step has a Prompt block — click Copy, paste into Ana, and adapt anything in [brackets] to your data.
  • Tick off the Checkpoints — your progress is saved in this browser.
Two ways to run it — Self-paced: work top to bottom on your own — every step tells you exactly what to type. Guided: a TextQL team member or your internal champion leads the group while everyone follows hands-on in their own workspace.
A note on the examples — The example prompts use a generic sales/usage framing so they work in most environments. The method is what matters — it generalizes to any domain. Building the governed semantic layer itself is covered in the companion ontology workshop.
T-minus-1-day pre-flight: run the workshop’s key prompts end-to-end in the session workspace — confirm logins, connectors, and the features this workshop touches are enabled for every attendee; have a fallback demo workspace ready in case a customer connector fails live. Pacing: when a long prompt is running (2–4 min), fire it first, then discuss the concept while Ana works — never watch a spinner in silence. If behind schedule, cut sections marked optional, never the checkpoints. Group sessions: attendees drive, you narrate; collect every miss or wrong answer in a shared doc — that list is the ontology backlog. With 10+ attendees on one warehouse, stagger the heavy prompts.
🤖 Prefer to have Ana run this workshop? Open a thread with your data connected and paste the prompt below — Ana walks you through it on your own data, one step at a time. You run each prompt; she coaches. (Air-gapped / VPC tenants where Ana can’t reach the web: download ana-runner.md and paste its module list instead.)
